Your Duties

  • Management of ship operations and representation towards passengers.
  • Administration of ship logs, ensuring seaworthiness and safety of the ship.
  • Initiation and supervision of maintenance tasks and compliance with legal regulations.
  • Ensuring on-board safety and compliance with inland navigation regulations.
  • Economic use of resources and environmental protection.
  • Organization of communication among all on-duty officers and team leaders.
  • Assistance with clearance formalities and cooperation with the shipping company to optimize workflows.
  • Preparation of shipyard and winter lists.
  • Development and optimization of workflows and standards.

Your Profile

  • Captain's license (for the Danube or Rhine/from the Dutch border to Basel)
  • Boatman’s Booklet and health certificate
  • Several years of experience on the Danube section Passau-Delta (only Danube area) or several years of experience on the Rhine and its tributaries as well as the Dutch rivers and delta area
  • Radar observer course / license and advanced fire fighting course
  • Radio operator's certificate
  • Preferably experience with the following propulsion systems: 2 * Schottel STP 550 Elast (twin propeller 180° rotatable) controlled via co-pilot, auxiliary control station (path-dependent) or emergency control station (time-dependent), 1 * 200kW Schottel sPJ 57 RD Elas (pump-jet), 3 stages (70%, 85%, 100%) using electric motor
  • Qualified Expert for Passenger Ship Navigation (for the Rhine)
  • Leadership qualities and a representative, well-groomed appearance
  • Good German and English language skills, both spoken and written
